I have been contemplating for some time now about creating a blog about my native country, the Philippines… whether it be for the sights, the food, the local culture, or whatever I can think of to write about. By all means, this is not my first blog and, for some people who know me, the title of this post would probably raise a few chuckles… if you get the joke 😉
In the past few years, I’ve been much more active in traveling the country to explore the local culture and traditions of my country. And I thought, why not share it? Hopefully, this attempt of mine does it justice!
So what does the title mean?
Pinoy is a term which we Filipinos refer to ourselves (you can read the full explanation over at the ever-trustworthy Wikipedia here) in recent times. Although its origins are pretty deregatory, it has evolved over time to be something that our society has accepted and is even fond of using as a way to identify ourselves in other countries. Lng, on the other hand, is a slang/”text-speak” (shortening of words usually used when sending SMS messages) for “lang”, which in this case means “only”. In short, literally translated, the title of this blog is, “Filipino Only”. This is my dedication to what we love to say around the house as Only in the Philippines!
Anyway, welcome! And I hope you go through this journey with me 😉 Thank you for stopping by and I hope to see you here often! 😉
